Acupuncture As a Healing Tool:

Don't get squeamish here. Yes, there are needles involved, but there is no pain and no blood involved in acupuncture.

Acupuncture Healing

According to the Acupuncture Bodywork website: "Acupuncture is a medical practice of East Asia involving the insertion of a selection of fine needles into the body at specific points. A point is needled to change the flow of Qi (energy) in the Channels of the body. This rebalances the body's Qi to bring about healing and health."

According to Chinese medicine, the health of the body and the health of the mind are totally dependent upon one another, and both are dependent upon the balance of yin and yang as determined by qi or chi (both spellings are correct).

The needles used in acupuncture are very fine needles that are made up on five parts: the handle, the tail, the tip, the body, and the root. The
acupuncturist uses two hands to insert a needle into a patient. With one hand he pulls the skin taut or pinches the skin, and with the other he inserts the needle.

There is very rarely any pain at all for the patient. The needles used range from a diameter in millimeters of 0.45 to 0.22. Lengths of needles vary as well and are measured in millimeters ranging from 15 to 125. Often acupuncturists use a combination of acupuncture and herbal medicine to achieve the optimum flow of chi and the rebalancing of yin and yang.

Today the needles used by acupuncturists all over the world are made of stainless steel, but that hasn't always been the case. Acupuncture has been around probably since the Stone Age, and stone acupuncture needles dating back to 3000 B.C. have been found by archeologists in Inner Mongolia.

Healing without the use of prescription drugs and all of their awful side effects is being sought out by more and more people today. Acupuncturists are busy because acupuncture works!
